The Canning Stock Route runs for 1780 kilometres from Wiluna to Halls Creek in Western Australia and crosses three deserts, the Little Sandy Desert, the Gibson Desert and the Great Sandy Desert. At the northern end, it joins the Tanami Track near the Billiluna Community, a few hundred kilometres south of Halls Creek. The Canning Stock Route is definitely one of the toughest outback travel routes in Australia, and it should only be attempted during the cooler winter months, and 4 wheel drive vehicles are mandatory!
