Urandangi is located in the far west of outback Queensland near the Northern Territory border, about 260 km south west of Mount Isa.
Urandangi was established in 1885 with the construction of a general store. The tiny town grew over subsequent decades until by the 1920s there was a hotel, two stores, post office, police station, dance hall and several private residences. Urandangi was an important stopover for travellers and drovers along the Georgina and other stock routes.
The Dangi Pub in Urandangi offers hotel accommodation and meals (by arrangement only), while the camping grounds are free of charge.
Many good birdwatching and fishing spots can be found along the Georgina River.
